Andrew P. Davis
Head of School
Andrew P. Davis is the Head of School and a parent to a fifth and seventh grader at Mount Tamalpais School. He is continually struck by four qualities that make MTS exceptional: teachers who teach what they love, commitment to the whole child, partnership with families, and a lasting commitment to inclusion and belonging.
Curriculum & special classes
Mount Tamalpais School is an independent, co-ed, K-8 school with a vigorous, creative, and process-driven education. It features a fully departmentalized model from kindergarten, where subject-specific teachers teach humanities, math, science & engineering, art, music, world language, library, and PE. The curriculum also integrates social and emotional learning daily through Responsive Classroom practices, IFSEL tools, and mindfulness.
Financial aid
MTS dedicates over 15% of its operating budget to financial accessibility, with over 20% of families receiving financial assistance. Families are encouraged to apply if affording full tuition is out of reach.
Before & after school care
Before school
Morning care from 7:30 am in the covered courtyard. Campus opens for play at 7:45 am, and homerooms open at 8:05 am.
After school
Daily after care, enrichment classes, athletics, and instrumental lessons are offered. Students in 5th-8th grade can stay for Study Hall until 4:00 pm free of charge. After Care is available until 6:00 PM Monday-Thursday and until 5:00 PM on Fridays.
Cost
$1,500 per semester for unlimited use of after care; daily drop-in after care is also available. Families receiving financial assistance are billed at the same rate as their prorated tuition percentage.
