Head of School

Dr. Matt Glendinning joined Hopkins School as its 110th Head in July 2022, following a 13-year tenure as Head of Moses Brown School. He previously served as Head of Upper School at Moorestown Friends School and taught ancient and medieval history, Latin, Greek, and archaeology.

Hopkins School offers a challenging college-preparatory curriculum for grades 7-12, with all courses taught at an honors comparable level. The program emphasizes critical reading, precise writing, conceptual thinking, factual mastery, and an involved classroom presence, ensuring grounding in basic skills and exposure to a wide variety of subject matter.

The Hopkins admission process is designed to help applicants and their families understand the school community, while also providing the Admission Committee with insight into each applicant's educational background and interests. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an ability to complete a demanding course of study, primarily for 7th and 9th grades, though other grades are considered as space permits.

What they ask for: Completed application (SAO or Gateway) with $75 fee, interview (required for applicant and at least one parent/guardian), official transcript, English and Math teacher recommendations, Administrator recommendation (Principal, Guidance Counselor, or Secondary School Placement Director), and Admissions Testing (SSAT or ISEE). International applicants also require TOEFL scores demonstrating English proficiency.
